Background

Webdam had been acquired by several companies and had expanded beyond 3 devs. I contributed in a product and design role while still heavily working with developers to get things built. We discovered that brands manually download and upload assets to websites to make them accessible to the public. While we already had customers embedding assets directly from the admin panel, they encountered permission and download-related issues.

Approach

I began a journey of exploring content editing experiences. I created UI competitive analysis, researched common patterns, trends, and their benefits and drawbacks. Then I collected what brand managers expect from such brand portals, got product manager's help discussing possible solutions with customers, shared early designs to gather any feedback. Certain details in an editing-interaction can be complex. In such cases, I created clickable prototypes that effectively communicated these details to developers.

Outcomes

Our solution helped to centralize asset distribution, reducing the manual process of building websites and documenting brand guidelines. With the tools we've developed, companies can generate dynamic brand guidelines using their approved in-house assets. In addition, this reduced the number of duplicated asset exports and additional time, resources maintaining a separate website. Brand Connect was well adopted due to how it was integrated into customer's existing features without interruptions.
